About this deal

It's a masterpiece that has thankfully stood the test of time, and still manages to terrify audiences new and old almost 40 years after it first rose from the depths onto our screens. From the Set is a contemporary making of featurette from 1974, with a decent interview with Steven Spielberg. I was very quickly quieted when I suddenly found myself enveloped in a rich lather of glorious uncompressed silky ocean spume. I thought it would be just more rehash from The Making Of; but oh how wrong I was - this doco alone is worth the upgrade, we get to see a lot more behind the scenes as well as getting to hear some current directors talk about how much of an impact this movie made on them and their careers; wonderful stuff. I would like to say thank-you to all the people involved in the making of this movie and to those responsible for bringing it on to Blu Ray because even when we first watched it on video and DVD we all knew the makers were going to need a bigger boat to do this movie justice.

When the shark was about to attack my brother did the two note music and that just built the tension even more than his vivid depictions of the mayhem off Amity. This segment focusses more on the marketing and pre-release draws the comparative successes of the Book and the Movie. Regarded as a watershed moment in motion picture history, Jaws was the prototypical summer blockbuster, and won several awards for its music and editing. I went on to read Jaws 2 by Hank Searle and that was even better than the sequel movie, (I recommend it). Black levels are true and often sumptuous in several areas with excellent delineation of the various gradations and small background objects hiding in the shadows. All the nasty noise has been brought under control, and all of the hiccups with previous versions of the film have been rectified. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. What’s especially nice, though, is that the sound quality between the many layers of the track sound to be the same in terms of quality. As the art department's mechanical sharks often malfunctioned, Spielberg decided to mostly suggest the shark's presence, employing an ominous and minimalist theme created by composer John Williams to indicate its impending appearances. Fields only provided short glimpses of the mechanical prop, which in effect allows the mind run wild, filling in the gaps and creating fear purely from our own imagination.

minutes of gushing over Steven Spielberg and how the movie Jaws inspired so many directors to get into film and so many effects artists to pursue film making. That degree of restoration can raise questions of about how far studios should go in rejuvenating classics, especially when it comes to colour timing. The underwater shots of the shark are especially good and one has to include the eeriness of the SS Indianapolis scene with the whales singing to each other in the background; which brings me to the sound, oh dear me, the sound, when that shark is on its way and the music tells you so, the sound in 7.Indianapolis, Quint acquired first-hand knowledge of the predators that made him the most respected shark hunter in the area. It's a classic, and effortlessly earned the many accolades bestowed upon it over the years as of one of the finest thrillers ever made. As the shark’s body count rises, Brody must face his greatest fear to eliminate the ruthless predator once and for all.
